EU Seeks WTO Approval for Counter-Measures Against US Olive Import Tariffs

The European Union on Monday requested authorization from the World Trade Organization (WTO) to impose counter-measures in response to US customs duties on Spanish olive imports. The request was submitted at a meeting of the WTO's Dispute Settlement Body (DSB) after Washington contested the EU's proposed retaliation, which amounts to $35 million annually, according to a Geneva-based trade official.
